Can anyone recommend a list of high fibre foods I should buy in order to flush my system over the next month or two!!?

Hi Whisper,

I asked a friend who knows a lot about this. He suggests Beneo Fiber, which is available from http://www.beneo.com/en/benefits.asp.

If you can't get this product, you can make a salad with fresh garlic, leeks and onion. These foods contain a high quantity of inulin, which is a prebiotic fiber that helps support the digestive flora.

Recipe:
4-6 cloves of fresh garlic
2 leeks (white part and approx 1/2 inch of green part)
medium onion (white, yellow, or red---whatever you prefer)
1 tsp extra virgin olive oil
1 tsp lemon or lime or orange juice

Chop garlic and onion. Clean and chop leeks.
Saute garlic and leeks in olive oil until leeks soften. Be careful not to overcook. Onion may be sauteed or added raw. Toss in citrus juice.

Serve alone, in spring rolls or with corn chips.

Whole grains, wholemeal breads, raw fruit and veg are all pretty high in fibre too, I think.

Hee. I used to eat them as a kid!

White potatoes are pretty high in sugar, btw. Sweet potatoes and yams have a higher fibre content, so your body breaks down the nutrients more slowly and doesn't get a sugar high and then crash.

But I wouldn't eat them raw. :) They're great oven-roasted with olive oil and salt.
